SMSL DP3 un petit lecteur réseau surprenant et performant
(05-02-2020, 12:06 PM)renan a écrit : Quand c'est gratuit c'est toi le produit!

Que pense SMsl de cette affaire...?

It’s free because I do it for myself and share it with my friends. All download links lead to my personal cloud and to our Russian forum. I understand your suspicions and everyone decides for himself.

On April 20, we sent an SMSL support message with the following content:
"Hi, Kelly!
I am writing to you on behalf of the Russian community of SMSL DP3 users (link to the discussion, in Russian, starting from page 20 - https://forum.ixbt.com/topic.cgi?id=95:609-20 ) We found a big problem in your DP3 product. When playing wav and flac files (and all files encoded in PCM), part of the audio signal falls into the opposite channel with the inverted phase (on the Line, Phone and S / PDIF out's). In this case, there is a strong signal distortion in the main channel. In the attachment - WAV-file playback waveform, this is a sinusoidal signal of 1000 Hz, 0dB (100%), with the left channel muted (in the picture at the bottom). This is a software problem. Please contact the developers immediately and fix this problem. We have not yet published information about this problem in the world community. We are also ready to contact Hiby with your permission in order to solve this problem, since publishing this problem may damage HiBy's reputation.
With hope for a new firmware,
The Russian community of SMSL DP3 users. "

Unfortunately no answer.

In any case, if you are satisfied with the bugs that are in the original firmware, you can always return to it.

To check for the presence of this problem, you can generate in any audio editor a WAV-file with a sinusoid with 100% (0dB) amplitude in one channel and silence in another. Then play it on DP3 and listen with headphones (this is well audible). If you have an oscilloscope, you can see the problem on its screen.

Thank you very much Poogo. Everything is working fine here with your last DIY firmware.

And why I'm not surprised they don't get answer from smsl and in the same time disappointed.

If you want to see your network shares in the HibyMusic application (by default they are not visible there), you can ask me a question, I will explain how to do it (this is not easy, but is done only once).

Hi Poogo
Sorry if I have offended you but in these uncertain times it is better to manage network security.

Regarding this Pb and firmware you are very kind to share it with.
To some point this is not surprising and it brings answers to what the DP3 sound so different than other gears. We were suspecting some intentional DSP inside the DP3 but it's just a bug.
Did you have the opportunity to compare side by side two DP3 original and your firmware regarding sound quality?

Yes, I used to listen through the speaker system and there it is less noticeable, especially noticeable in the headphones on audio recordings with a high recording level. It is expressed in distortions at high frequencies and poor localization of instruments and voices.
In the pictures (oscillograms) in my first message I circled in red the problem areas in the audio signal.
In the corrected firmware, localization returned to its place; there is no distortion at high frequencies. My friends from our forum claim that the noise level has also decreased.
Yesterday I spent a day listening to my favorite songs, they sounded completely different, I really liked it.

Is it possible to insert a picture directly into the message in this forum?

Poogo,

You have all my respect for such helpful work. I'm curious but how many peoples have been involved to rebuild this firmware ? have you been alone ?

Congrats and thanks for sharing your firmware.

Corrections I did alone. Unfortunately, the firmware source code is not available to us, so I had to use reverse engineering, disassemble the executable module and understand how the MIPS processor works. Everything is complicated and confusing there and many wishes cannot be realized. The firmware was developed by Hiby. But they don’t make contact (we also sent a letter to them).

My friends from our forum tested the firmware.
