Citation :S/T: DCC. AP didn't stand a chance with the tape it was given.

Strange Days: DCC. The AP has amazing clarity, but is sorely lacking in bass in places. It also has some phase issues towards the end of Moonlight Drive (my favorite song on the album), which is almost a deal breaker on it's own. The DCC is maybe a little too bassy / warm / rolled off at times, but it's still the best I've heard and hardly a compromise. If I were primarily a headphone listener, I may choose the AP for the extra detail, but it just sounds too thin through speakers even at higher volumes.

Waiting For The Sun: AP. At first I dismissed it for sounding a little dull compared to the DCC. Then one day I compared Hello, I Love You from Steve's AF Best Of disc, and to my surprise it sounded almost identical to the AP, so I decided to revisit. On that track the DCC is the outlier compared to the AP and AF Best Of. Overall the AP is quite a bit warmer than the DCC, and it definitely is not lacking in bass. It's mastered a lot quieter than the DCC, but the bass is definitely there once you turn it up. I'm pretty sure Yes, The River Knows is a different mix on the DCC and AP. Love Street and The Unknown Soldier may also share different mixes, but it could just be very different EQ choices. Also, the DCC's phase issues on Not To Touch The Earth are not present on the AP. I feel this is easily the weakest of the DCCs.

The Soft Parade: AP. It may have a tad less bass than I'd prefer, but it has a beautifully smooth top end and rich mid-range.
Morrison Hotel: AP. Same as above.

L.A. Woman: DCC. The AP sounds really nice, but the DCC has just a little more bass that really helps bring everything together. It sounds spookily real. Tracks like The Changeling, L.A. Woman and Riders On The Storm really benefit from the extra bass. When I listen to Riders On The Storm on the DCC I get into that zone where the speakers disappear, and it's almost transcendental... I'm sure everyone has had those late night moments that are just hard to describe. The AP has more top end and less bass which allows for more detail, but just doesn't sound as realistic as the DCC, and it can't get me to that same place. Steve really did an incredible job on that disc. It is my favorite of the Doors DCCs
