Sony (Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings) sort ce vendredi 20 septembre, The 1974 Live Recordings, un coffret massif de 27 disques contenant tous les concerts enregistrés professionnellement de la tournée 1974 de Bob Dylan et The Band.

Le coffret contient 417 morceaux live inédits, dont 133 enregistrements nouvellement mixés à partir d'une bande 16 pistes et tous les enregistrements fait à partir de la  table de mixage.

En 1974, Dylan part en tournée live pour la première fois depuis huit ans et retrouve The Band, qui depuis leur dernière prestation live ensemble (en 1966) avait sorti six albums, joué à Woodstock et enregistré avec Dylan ( The Basement Tapes , Planet Waves ).

Cette année là, Dylan and The Band donnent 30 concerts en 42 jours (en jouant souvent deux sets par jour) et les enregistrements sont capturés sur une table de mixage stéréo, à la fois sur bande quart de pouce et sur cassette. À la fin de la tournée, David Geffen d'Asylum Records a commandé des enregistrements sur bande multipiste, pour une éventuelle sortie sur Before the Flood . Les enregistrements live de 1974 incluent tous ces enregistrements et les concerts enregistrés sur bande 16 pistes sont remixés pour ce coffret, qui est accompagné de nouvelles notes de pochette par Elizabeth Nelson.

Ce n'est pas un référendum pour ou contre Dylan !  C'est juste pour signaler la sortie de ce coffret et le titre du sujet faisait juste référence au fait que quelqu'un capable de s'offrir un tel coffret doit forcément beaucoup l'aimer ...  Wink

Salut, vdgg, tu vas l'acheter?

pas moi car j'ai déjà l'album sorti en 74 , Before the flood, dont ce coffret est la version longue (très longue...), ou Dylan massacre ses anciens morceaux qui ont perdu tout leur charme et leur grâce.

pour exemple, écoute sa version postée ici de It's all over now baby blue avec l'originale. Idem pour Just like tom thumb'blues.

J'étais un très grand fan de Dylan à l'époque, et après son interruption après Blonde on blonde (accident de moto ? désintox?), il n'a plus jamais été le même musicalement. A chaque nouvel album on espérait le "retour", avec déception, le comble ayant signé l'arrêt de l'amour inconditionnel fut Self portrait. Après, quelques bons trucs de temps en temps (le disque avec Lanois), mais un dégringolade lente avec une voix de plus en plus bousillée.

Je possède tous les premiers jusque 1975, en vinyle, CD et fichiers, et tous les suivants téléchargés (on ne dira pas comment) - une incroyable quantité de rééditions agmentées de plus en plus lamentables.

Je déconseille fortement à quiconque qui n'aurait pas tous les albums de 1962 à 1966 (de Bob Dylan à Blonde on Blonde) de se laisser arnaquer par cette pompe à fric qu'est devenu notre cher "contestataire".
