On my example, I can say that the power change also raised the DAC built into Node. I then tried to put some different DACs in the kit.
I play: Node 2i + psu, Lyngdorf SDAI2175 amp, Monitor Audio Silver100 speakers, and then i tried to put the following DAC's and compare them to Node analog output. Input levels were equalized and I switched the SDAI inputs.
- Matrix Mini Pro 2s - no changes at all
- Topping Dx7Pro - no noticeable improvements, too sharp in my set
- Topping D70 - barely noticeable changes, but was it an improvement? I'm not sure
- Topping D90 - it improved, it filled and slightly differentiated the sound, also the sound came closer
I also tried to compare some smartTV box source and Bluetooth P20 Pro as source - both connected by Topping D90 and differences to Node2i were noticeable.
At this moment, best way is to wait for the opinion of others who have already passed this PSU path. The topic has just moved and you have to wait a few days for feedback.
