I just installed my projector and 7.1 sound system in the “bonus” room of my house. This room is somewhat of a multi-purpose room for now. I say “for now” because I have 3 young kids (4yo, 1yo, and NB) who use this room for a playroom, and when the kids are in bed me and my wife might watch a movie, football game, etc.
I’m hesitant to put up a screen because there’s a 100% chance it will be abused, accidentally or otherwise. movies download movies at forum
I’m currently projecting onto matte gray paint (that covers the entire house) and the image quality is good enough for what our expectations are.
The way I see my options:
The room has a double window facing east, behind the viewer, so it’s somewhat bright during the day, but most of the “serious” screen use is after sundown.

- leave as is, upgrade to a good screen when the kids are old enough to not be so inadvertently destructive
- paint a screen on the wall, repaint as needed until kids are old enough, then buy a screen
- buy a (cheap) screen, replace the screen at least a few times before the kids are old enough to not screw things up so often.
